Problem changing radio CDR23 on Boxster S 2003

Hi!

I'm the new owner of a 2003 Boxster S which has a CDR23 stock unit, amp and door speakers.

I have started to change the stock Becker stock radio for an after market model. I bought wiring adapter plug and after testing everything out I found that I seem to be missing the orange wire on pin 7 that is used for ignition (12 Volt Switched Power) on the black plug. See pics.

How am I suppose to wire this up?

If you pull out the things from the bottom of the dash console just above the batwing (probably a cd holder and cubby)and look around, you should find a connector that is for a factory phone. You can pull both constant 12v and switched 12v

Just tap into that harness and run a wire up to where you are installing the new radio

You have what they call fiber obtic sistem...MOST ...you wont be able to use an after market radio unless you change factory amp and other things..it gets complicated just take it to an audio shop.

You can do a web search and there are some MOST to analog adapters out there
You are probably better off changing out the amp.

The thing doesn't power on at all. And i thought this was going to be simple. Sigh.

I'll do a little more research or take to the shop.

Thanks for the inputs.
