1998 convertible top problem

Top does not go up or down. Checked micro switch in latch and it is functioning, brake light on dash is on, indicating micro switch is good. No noise or response when up or down switch is engaged. Checked fuses and all are good. problem started two weeks ago when the top would not engage right away but would later when I went through the process of checking the hand brake, windows and doors closed, hoods latched.
Any Ideas? It seems like I am missing a step

Just had the same thing while top was down (would not go up). Dash light is on. I have discovered the passenger side link to top mechanism was disconnected (how long?). Will be digging into the system shortly.

Here's a good reference on the top: https://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/thetop-itsmaintaince%26replacement

There are several topics covered and you can get a good idea of the various components in the system and narrow the number of components you need to check. GFOX sounds like he could have a problem with the motor or the top relay.
