2008 Boxster Shift Knob Replacement

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to remove and replace the shift knob on a 2008 Boxster? I have the Special Edition model and it's got the Alcantara knob which had gotten a bit rough looking. I ordered a new one and don't want to ruin it. I'm sure it's simple but it appears I may need to remove the boot. It doesn't seem like it just screws on like my other cars. Also, same question on the stereo knobs. Do they just pop off or is there a secret? Thanks much!

I assume it's the same as the 986 models. If you could post a pic of the shifter boot bottom clips I can confirm. Pull up on the rearward edge of the shift boot to pull loose the clips. Once the rear is loose pull up at 45degree angle to loosen other clips. Once boot is loose grip knob firmly & pull straight up HARD! Once the knob comes off your hands & arms will rise rapidly 2-3 feet before you can stop them, so it is easy to hit yourself in the face! I recommend putting the top down & stand above the shifter so you can use leg strength to absorb the movement & avoid hitting anything.
