cutting shift lever?

has anyone tried cutting their shift lever to shorten the length of the shifter? i replaced my shifter with a short throw but I want to shorten the height of the knob.

recommended or not recommended?

any input would be appreciated

It's going to necessarily increase shift effort. If you feel the shift effort of your new short shifter is still very moderate then go for it. Just know that if you hate it you'll have to start over...

do you think i'll have a problem fitting the boot and knob back on due to the flat part of the lever being shorter?

I bought my short throw on eBay for $52 so it won't hurt me too too bad if I don't like it.
I can still shift rather effortlessly, so if i won't have any problems re-installing the boot and knob then i might give this a try

I placed a short shifter on and then cut about an inch off after, I had also put a Momo shift knob on and grind it down a bit to fit, not a difficult thing to do and I like the feel of it. Well I did like it ;-)

In the shop for the next four weeks getting body rebuilt as I was hit a couple weeks ago, but looking forward to getting her back on the road.
