It take a good amount of force. If it becomes too tough on your fingers you can try placing screw drivers through the rings which creates handles instead of using your fingers.

Yep, that's my recollection. It has been years since removing my radio, but I remember it being tough to pull out and seeing pics in a thread of someone using screw drivers.

I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm missing something.

ok, will do that in the AM. Not sure what I am going to do once it is out. I need serial # to get code. Dealer had work done before I picked up and did not reset. Once out I was thinking of replacing with aftermarket with some back speakers but like the factory look. Just priced a double din kenwood/ nav/ dvd installed and ac unit moved, new pocket all with parts and install for around $1200.

I just don't listen to radio much, on drive home 3 hours plus I enjoyed the car.

Here's a thread where someone experienced a tough time getting the radio out.

http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/29832-no-sound-audio.html

I was just about to warn you about having the code before removing the radio.

If you haven't heard these radios, they don't sound all that great. I too like the look of the OE unit versus aftermarket single din units. I removed mine to add the rear speaker kit which helped. I do like the look of the double din units. There's a great kit you can buy to make the DD look like an OE installation.

I used a pair of pliers handles, I think I pulled outward as I pulled back. It took a couple times to get it completely out.

Radio won't go on after battery disconnect

Just getting around to swapping out my cdr220. Going to install my Alpine CDA9857, PDX 4.100 amp and looking at B. Acoustics speakers all around. More than happy to share experience and pictures with everyone.
