Ron,
I used "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" on my steering wheel and e brake handle. Results were amazing. Not sure how, but it worked for me. No chemicals or cleansing agents to harm the interior. Pack of four sponges cost approx $4 at your local grocery.

Paul. Does that do damage to the leather? I used them on my last car and although the steering wheel was very clean.....it was very dull also.

I guess the question is....should our steering wheels have a shiny finish or a dull looking appearance? Im talking a black steering wheel.

This might sound silly but I've had very good luck with leather shoe dye and shoe polish on my steering wheel and gear shifter. Wish I had before and after but to answer the obvious upcoming question, no, the dye and polish did not come off in my hand, just let it dry.
