01 986 S driveshaft question, are aftermarket ones ok?

I need a driveshaft and it's $1,059 from the dealer and used I found for $200.
But I see new aftermarket ones from $65-$150. Just curious if there's complaints with aftermarket ones. I don't know if I'd buy a $65 one but $150 is great if reliable.
Just looking for input.
Also, I have two part numbers from the dealer and the two from the parts catalog that say 2000 and up.

Dealer said:
986 332 024 60 or
986 332 024 55

Parts catalog:
986 332 024 50 or
986 332 024 51

The dealer said -55 and -60 are just later versions, so should I just look for those ?
And are these complete with grease already in the boots and just grease the ends and install them ?

There have been a lot of posts about the poor quality of aftermarket driveshafts. The used one is probably the way to go. Also if your current one just has a cracked boot it isn't hard to replace, just messy.

Well all I can say is I had aftermarket driveshafts put on my Boxster that I tracked and they were fine, no problems.

Maybe I was just lucky

Thank You, that's what I'm looking for is reports of people whom used aftermarket and how well they worked.
Unfortunately there's much more than the boot ripped so I think a new axle is needed.

Thank You, was hoping there are positive results out there. They do come with a year warranty so hopefully they're decent quality.

It comes down to the actual company/mfg really. Some wont say they are reman but actually are. Factory reman would be generally better then a true aftermarket.

As with anything aftermarket....mileage varies. Some are good, some are crap. Just make sure to get them from a reliable source that is/has been around awhile. Warranty is only as good if the company is around. Look at Craftsman as an example. Great warranty, but good luck finding a place anymore to get something replaced.

My axle was replaced with a FEQ one which costs under $150. Many of the non factory ones don't fit well and some are too big to fit in the hub.
