Wrecked 2004 Boxster S FS

Since I can't find a cheap 2003-04 roller for my engine, I'm selling the whole thing.

Check over on RennTech, a guy in PA with an immaculate 2005 has a roller as the result of an IMS failure.

Bummer about wrecking it on the track, feel bad for you...not the first experience you are looking for. Good luck with sale...

Is the ticking sound you now hear from the right side vent coming from the engine?

I don't know if its coming from the engine itself or something attached to the engine.

I don't think the '04 engine will go into an '05 without a bunch of extra work.

I'm pretty sure 04 and 05 should be a direct replacement. Both 3 chain, 7.8DME with dual vario-cam actuators.

not sure what work you are thinking of -- now a 2000-2002 aren't exact replacements, as they
are 5 chain, 7.2DME, single VarioCam actuators.

The 2005's are 987's, so I assume the engine bay may a little different or the ECU, that sort of thing.

Lets see: factory Litronics, clear tails, carrera light wheels, PSE, black interior with the expensive aluminum surround shifter and glovebox dash, PSM, fairly low mileage chassis, bodywork damage only at front, 4 bow glass window factory top, and as a cherry on top --functional Raby-worked 3-chain engine with optimal IMS rebuild and good ecu for transplanting. If whoever bought it decides to part it out, they will likely net $6k+ for their efforts, even if pricing for quick sell. That totaled car had a lot of desireable parts...
