Nice 2003 S for sale

After over 300 looks without any comment, perhaps I have overpriced this car that I really don't want to sell. Regardless, I'll drop the asking price to $17,500, and hope to see some responses, good or bad.

Thanks,

Pat

Good luck with the sale Pat. FYI, you might still be a little high. I paid $14,750 for a really nice 2003 S, 1 1/2 years ago, with more miles and fewer options, but in beautiful condition with many maintenance jobs and upgrades done and lots of custom leather in the interior.
I hope you get the $17,500 you are asking !

That's a beauty of a car! GLWS. Looks like you've taken very good care of her!

One thing I always want to know is why the seller is selling, especially if the car is in as good a shape as claimed. Might want to include the why.

Giller,

I'm selling the car because I have to relocate for work, and my replacement house only has a 2 car garage - no room for one of our cars, so selling it makes sense for me at this point, which avoids the costs of transporting it out west.

I forgot to mention that the car will come with an autographed Wayne Dempsey 101 projects for the Boxster, plus an original 2003 Porsche Boxster Sales book, which I think is always a cool thing to have.

I've attended the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit for the past 2 years, and get to see a lot of fine 986 cars, but this car always draws a lot of attention. It drives great, especially with the Fabspeed exhaust.

As to Joe B.'s comment, well, all I can say is that I've invested time and money into the car - a lot of little extras, trying to make it as good as it can be, and I happen to think the price is pretty well warranted, based on running some sales numbers in Edmunds and other used car sites that take mileage, condition, options, etc., into arriving at a price. I've handled all of the maintenance items that have arisen, but have not addressed the IMS situation, and my mechanic has just suggested that I keep an eye on it, slice the oil filters and carefully check every oil change (I change at 3 - 4,000 miles), and then just drive it and enjoy it. Bottom line, I think it's a very sharp car, but it's up to interested individuals to decide if they like the car, and think the car has sufficient merit.

Obviously, if you or someone else is interested, we can always discuss our opinions and negotiate a price that is mutually acceptable.

03 Boxster S

Rdass623,

The car is located in a town called Palmetto, about 40 miles south of Tampa, so fairly easy to get to. Unfortunately, I'm out of state for work, and will not be back home to show the car to you until sometime in September. If you want to see it prior to then, PM me, and I'll try to make arrangements to have a friend show you the car.

Thanks for the interest.

Don't know if you are trading in to buy another car but your price is getting close to what you might get on a trade. I ended up doing that with 03 E55 AMG. After 6 weeks of trying to sell it and putting it on EBay with a reserve of $1k above wholesale I traded it in and got more then anyone plus here in AZ when you trade a car in towards another it reduces your sales tax by the amount of the trade (example $10k times 8.1% tax reduce the sales tax on the new car by $810). Don't know if that is the case in your state but with this it was a easy decision. In my case I netted about $3k more then anyone offered me plus it was fun to tell the people making me offers that I got more for it on a trade. Good luck.

2003 Boxster S

Porsche9,

Thanks for the input and advice... I only have a 2 car garage and small driveway at my new house in Texas, and was thinking I should just sell the car in Florida, live thru the winter, then trace in my Acura SUV and buy a newer Boxster in the Spring... Your advice may well be good.. Maybe I'll contact a dealer or two out here to try and figure out the ramifications..

Regardless, I appreciate your feedback.

Try Carmax. From my experience they tend to give you the most for your car.

2003 Boxster S - Nice

BTfd,

No, Those are Pedro's LED driving lights that I added. They look good though, and definitely help the car be seen.
