Those are two common entries to the same scam. The general deal is "I got this money order already made out for X amount. I know you're only asking (less than)X, so if you don't mind, would you please cash the money order and send the remainder+the car with my carrier?"

Of course, the money order is a scam, but due to the nature of banking, it will take up to three weeks for the bank to catch it as a fraud, and by that time they've taken your car and whatever money you gave them.

If you ever sell a car and the person offering to buy it tries to pay with a money order made out for MORE than your asking price for the car, it's a scam, don't even waste your time responding.

Both times I got a txt message with "Is the car in perfect shape, what's your bottom line?" it's been an alternative intro to explaining why they have a money order for more than the amount
