Windscreen anchors?

I see a lot of spec boxsters with external anchors/ clips for the windshield. What are the reasons for this?

Racing regulations often require window or windscreen retention systems be added to production vehicles to prevent the glass from popping out under body flex or during a crash.

Thanks. Is this a common problem with boxsters on track and something I should worry about?

It is a common problem for most production cars when they are put on the track. I would suggest consulting the sanctioning body for where you race; they should have more details.

I'd imagine most are running polycarbonate windshields, so thats one way to attach them.

Front windscreens rarely pop out if properly attached, glass or lexan.

Do check your race series rules if you need additional attachments or braces. Usually only super thin lexan needs the additional retention.

Thanks for the reassurance. I was worried as these clips are not an option for me.
