Anyone running the spec legal H&R rearsway bar?
I have a front Tarrett bar but need to upgrade the rear one. The H&R bar seems like a bargain at $250 and doesn’t need adjustable drop links. It only has three adjustment holes compared to five on the Tarrett bar but I don’t think I need that much adjustment

I would call H&R and see if they can give you the specs of that bar, diameter, wall thickness, and hole centers, and run the math and see how it compares with the Tarett bars. That said, i think Insite runs the gt3 front bat with H&R rear bar with good results.

heavy and stiff - depending on your setup may create a loose rear. would a cayman bar be spec legal?

I have a spreadsheet, but I think it is in my other computer, that you can plug in the wall thickness, diameter, and hole spacing, and it will give you the precentages of stiffness relative to the OEM bars, similar to this Tarett chart: https://986forum.com/forums/511625-post9.html |
TL;DR: the H&R rear is STIFF
I run H&R rear @ full soft + GT3 front at full soft -1 and it is great for autocross with my RE-71Rs (265r/235f) and ksport coilovers (something like 500#r/300#f). But I like my cars a little loose. |
What’s the story with the cayman bar?
|
FYI, There seems to be a large move around here among the spec guys to go back to a stock base rear sway bar.

On a square setup less rear bar is desireable id say

My driving style works best with some movement during weight transfer and I don't like a car that is too stiff and tied down. The other issue is that an LSD is not Spec legal so if the rear is too stiff you get a ton of inside wheel spin on corner exit. By softening the rear the car generates better grip and is quicker out of the corners. |
