To me, this is a no-brainer to try and keep in Street class, unless you want to go all-out making a whole bunch of mods. STU is indeed still a faster class than CS, with about 2.5% shorter lap times expected, based on recent handicap adjustment factors (called PAX factors).
From
2017 PAX/RTP Index :
CS index = .810
STU index = .831
.81 / .831 = .975
(In other words a 2.5% shorter STU time than CS would get even pax index-adjusted performance.)
I'd strongly consider keep it Street class legal! The "S" 986 may actually end up being a
great car to have for CS. I believe it was recently reclassed.
