Front bumper weight

Anyone know what the weight is of the factory Boxster front bumper (just the plastic part)?

I'm taking mine off this afternoon so I will weigh it while I have it off. I can say it isn't very much.

That would be great. I have been on the look for a 996 GT3 front bumper to put on my racing car to get better down force on the front along with a wing on the back.

Unfortunately they do not come up for sale very often, and when they do they are relay expensive!

I have found someone that has a fiberglass replica at a good price but it weighs 14lb. I want to know how much additional weight this will put on my car to try and decide if it is worth it or not...

here is one on craigslist in Northern Cali, but shipping to Finland is probably astronomical:
Porsche 993 GT3 front bumper

Thank you for the link, but that is way more than I am willing to pay for a bumper on a racing car - I would be to worried about damaging it that driving to win

be careful what you order.. only the 99-01 GT3 bumper will work with your headlights. I only know of one manufacturer who was smart enough to make a 02-04 GT3 bumper with 97-04 Boxster cutouts for the headlights and I don't believe he is still around

The weight difference will only be 1-2 lbs over your current bumper.

JITT's has a regular boxster bumper cut for BoxsterS 3rd radiator (last time I checked) so his bumper is not going to weigh what your S bumper weighs. The S bumper has an extra pair of plastic guides for the 3rd radiator that 99% of the BoxsterSpec people do not install when cutting their 97-99 bumper.

Sorry to have taken so long. My bumper (which is a stock bumper with all the frills and grills removed, a hole cut for the third radiator and simple aluminum mesh glued into all three openings) weighs 8lbs. My 04 GT3 bumper, with the same mesh on the openings and including the stock splitter (or whatever you call that plastic thing that keeps being knocked off is called) but otherwise stock, weighs 11lbs.

Thank you Laurie, so approximately a 4lb difference then.

Thank you for the heads up Brad, I will assume you are referring to the headlight change that Porsche did for all 996 models (the facelift) to be like the Turbo ones?
