From what I have read, shipping is just crazy expensive for such an item. Think crate construction as well as the actual shipping cost.

It can be shipped, but I would have to build a crate and find someone who can handle it. I've heard estimates around $400 all in. I can look into this next week when I'm back in Montreal. My postal code is H3P 2W7 in Montreal, Canada, if anyone cares to research the costs.

About a year ago, a factory crate was offered on eBay. Seller said he wouldn't ship it.

Well, first price that I have received is $575 ! from ShipCanada. Plus the crate. Pretty steep.
I've not yet received any bids from U-Ship.
For anyone within driving distance, I can deliver the top for costs.

In fact, it is. I just dropped the price on Kijiji to $1400. Also, since I'm in Montreal, I have offered to deliver it within a reasonable distance for gas money.
