De-ambered Last Night

I took the orange plastic out of my headlights last night. Earlier I went to walmart to buy new bulbs (that were orange) and spray painted them with some high temp silver. I got out my soldering iron and went to work. The first one I was touching the plastic and expecting something because that one walkthrough said it would separate and curl... it doesnt. Its 1/8th inch thick heat resistant plastic. After I learned what to do it didnt take near as long. What you do is take your soldering iron and stab the plastic in the middle and cut it in half, dont go too deep because the lens is close. Cut the middle middle orange square in half or close to it, then pry it till it breaks in half, manuver it around untill you can cut the side squares in half, once you get that in half it should fit though the hole. So you should be able to get it out in 4 pieces, or 3 if you dont separate the plastic all the way and get a whole square and corner out. So I suggest it. I didnt use foil, it was fine. No more orange, it looks awesome. I will take a pic later.

Congrats boggtown!

I didn't realize how ugly they are (with amber inside) untill I took some pictures. I even did several for local Boxster owners, and they agreed it was one of the best cosmetic mod for Boxster.

I think you have some serious mod desease though.

Ya, but im starting to run out of things to do, lol. So I took off the boxster emblem today too. Looks better, cleaner, smoother, more stealthy, at least on black it does. At least its free. So was the de-amber.

Thumbs up

Jonathan, that is fantastic. I will love to try this as well. I have a race event next weekend...probably the following weekend would be the best.
