Somebody was watching out for me...

Finally had a nice day in Chicago. Decided to take the Box out of storage ( it was in the 40's today ), and took a nice ride in the country. Had plans to go downtown tonight to see a boxing match so I took the Box to my friend's house and we took his Expedition into the city. Got back to his place around 1:30 am and started heading home ( I live in the boonies ). Hit a patch of ice on a country road on the way home and spun 540 degrees ! How I didn't damage myself or my car is beyond me ! Anyway, I'm going to bed. Be careful out there...

Nick

damn. countersteering doesn't do anything? i mean damn you mustve been going pretty fast too. but glad you're okay. i mean i guess if a car spins a bit in the middle of the night and there's nothing to hit around it you're okay. i heard theres a lot of people in roadsters who slip on the chicago ice and always get close to hitting pedestrians.

Glad to hear everything is alright!

I actually had a slightly similar experience a few months ago. I was dumb, and driving around on nearly corded tires in the rain. Went to make a turn onto an on ramp and spun the car 360, but kept it within the two guardrails on either side of me. Came to a stop facing straight, and just kept going (albeit a little more safely). I credit the lack of damage/injury to my times autocrossing, because I've spun it there a number of times, and know what to do when I lose it.

Nick, you are worrying me, dude! I am glad there was no damage. Do you have PSM (Porsche Stability Management)?

Does "C" know about it?

I was probably going about 30 mph ( I had just turned onto this road from another road ). Honestly, it happened so fast I didn't even have time to react. No PSM on my '99 ( not sure if it would have made much of a difference ). I called "C" when I got home ( she was out with the girls ) and told her to be careful and NOT to take that road. Still a little freaked out this morning !

Thanks guys ( and gals ;o)

Nick

I had a similar experienc last week with my 99. However, I did not hit ice but the coating of cinders all over the road. I took a corner a little faster than I should and found myself in the oncoming lane. Thankfully the good Lord was looking out for me. I will be taking it more easy till I get a better handle on what it can and cannot do. I also need new rubber all around.

Thanks, unklekraker !

I had the interview 2 weeks ago ( went really well ) now I am just waiting...

Things work a little slow at old ma bell, so it may take awhile to see what they want to do with me.

blinkwatt has been great answering my questions about the area. I will definitely take ya'll up on the guided tour if I end up out there

Regards,

Nick

Wow, glad to hear you and the Box are ok, Nick. It sucks that the weather gets so nice and there is still ice on the roads.

It was GORGEOUS out yesterday. I took my Box down to Channahon and hit the twisty roads with the top down. It rocked.
