AC location

Does any body know if it is possible to move the head unit for the ac
down to the center console? This is to provide space enough for a
cd player with touch screen for the navigation like Pioneer AVIC-D3.

Yes, you can move your climate control unit to the lower console... I think only the bottom slot. that's where mine is, due to the crappy cup holder being in the topmost slot. I will be moving my climate control unit to the top slot, and will nix the cupholders.

You'd probably want to check to see if you can put it in the next to bottom most slot... the bottom slot is a PITA if you have a standard transmission... if you're in 1 or 3, it's hard to see or interface with the controls.

My AC controls are on the bottom most slot and I don't have any trouble seeing or changing the settings when I'm in 1st or 3rd.

You'll need a different fascia so the climate controls will fit in the lower slot. I have an AVIC-N1 and have been contemplating doing the move since when the screen is out, it completely blocks the climate controls. Someone was kind of enough to send me the fascia. I would ask around, I think quite a few people move it from the lower position to the upper position, and then they have the part you need just lying around. Check over on renntech.org, there was someone there who is in the process of moving it to the upper position and should have the extra piece.

Right now I have a pocket at the lowest spot. I have the fascia to make the climate control fit into the lowest spot, but what goes now in the top spot where the climate control was? The pocket from the lowest spot seems to be the wrong size for it.

One could get the cup holder thingie to fill the top DIN slot.

I'll be removing mine soon to put my climate control in the TOP slot. My single DIN head unit is below that... the bottom two slots will be pockets.

If anyone wants my cupholder, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. It's not 'new' looking... it's got scratches and scuffs on it. Might look decent if it's painted.
