I know you'll tell me that the sound is much better or you can pick and choose what you are listening to and there are either no commercials or less commercials but none of that would sway me to spend my hard earned cash on something that I currently get for free.

Anyways, I spend most of the time just listening to that beautiful flat-6 music behind my head.
I was right there with you, why in the world would I ever pay for the same songs that are being heard for free? So I didn't consider it for a second and predicted the whole thing would go bust.
Then I got really into this one style of music that is simply not on the radio.
Why?
Because with the big radio station chains buying up all the local stations and playing THE EXACT SAME MUSIC ON ALL OF THE STATIONS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.. there is little room on free radio for anything other than the same 24 songs played all day, over and over and over and over and over...
It really has gotten out of hand. I used to travel out west or in Florida and I would hear music that was unique to those areas. That's all out the window now.
Satellite radio is the antidote to the curse of payola.

The other day I left my Sirius tuner at work and got in the car and listened to the FM radio. I drove for 15 minutes and heard musice for about 3 mintues. Every station I turned to was playing a commerical. It's kind of like Tivo, the consumers are spending the money to avoid commericals and have more choices in programming.
