Car Vacuum

I'm looking for a good vacuum to clean the interior of my cars. Don't want to get one of those big shop-vacs as garage space is at a premium. I need something small, but with enough power to get up all the little debris that seems to find its way into the hard to reach places. Anybody got a good idea?

Thanks,

J. Tucker

A lot of detail shops swear by this: Vac 'n Blow

YOWSERS that's an expensive vac!

I use a little shop vac that I got from WalMart. Works fine... didn't have all the little hose attachments, but the ones from my upright vac work on it.

Cost about $30, IIRC.

I picked up the new Dyson Rechargeable. It's really something, but it's not cheap...

^ yeah that Dyson Root 6 has caught my eye. Its rechargable so you can use it in the house and in the car. Saw them for about $150 at Target, definitely cheaper online. I'd hate to spend that or more for something only to be used in the car.

Looks like a Ghostbuster proton pack mated with a Wagner power painter...

I was thinking Han Solo's gun from Kenner toys circa 1982.
p.s.
Someone posted a review at Autopia and wasn't too impressed with
the suction, said they returned the unit.

This may be a little off topic but how about air blowers or leaf blowers? Which one would you recommend?

I've got a craftsman wall mounted shop vac. It's about 18" - 20" tall. It came with tool attachments, 20 foot hose. It will detach and you can carry it to another spot. Sears has them on sale from time to time for $90.

Actually, I think it sucks fairly well. Certainly the best of any hand helds I have used. The only downside is that I think the battery should last a little longer between charges. They could improve this by selling a second battery, which you could change out while the other is charging.

It is expensive for just the car, but I use it for the boat, etc. I also have a large dog who sheds a prodigious amount, so I find myself attacking the station wagon interior on a quite regular basis. And it's much easier than dragging out the full sized vac.

Black & Decker Dustbuster 7.2V seems to do the sucking job just fine on mine.

2 gal. portable Wet/Dry vac from Sears - $29.99. I have had one for 5 yrs. and it works great, small, compact, 1.5HP motor does a good job. See it: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?vertical=TOOL&cat=Wet-Dry+Vacs&subcat=Hand+Held+Vacuums&pid=00917713000&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes Hope this helps...
