Small shop run by a guy who has been working in the local dealerships for a while. Good guy and meticulous. Has been a solid alternative to paying dealership shop prices so far.

Miami mechanic needed

Hi,

I am new to this forum as well as to porsche. I bought a 2002 Boxster S about a month ago. It is a great car!

Anyone know of a good and trustworthy porsche mechanic in Miami?

James

Garage
Twin Cities, MN?

I have read this post, but did not find any listings for a good Porsche mechanic in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area.
Any suggestions/good experiences?
Thanks for any help.

Porsche/Boxster Repair Tampa area

Got good service at fair price with very good turn around time. Small shop in Oldsmar. Cost was less than quoted. (wheel bearings, top linkage, engine electrical) Recommended. http://www.germanspecialtiesinc.com/

West LA Porsche Repair Shop

My “new” '99 Tip presented with a small pink drip spot on the garage floor and a new “growl” left rear, and it requested a visit to the Porsche doctor. First time for repairs since I bought the car, so I didn’t have a good shop yet. My father always trusted Otto’s in Venice with his old 356, so I thought I’d try them. I was very pleasantly surprised. The lead technician did a “quick listen” and made an initial diagnosis, which turned out to be absolutely correct. Guess the previous owner had bottomed out the car and a coolant leak finally developed. The Water pump was also going south (the growl), so I had the work done and it has been running great since. Reasonable price, too.

Otto’s new lead technician loves Boxsters and other newer P-cars, which is kind of a change since Otto's Venice was formerly not known for working on water-cooled Porsches. They did a great job on mine. Now the car runs right between the “eight and the zero” in 180 and I have a new shop for the future.

They also dump all the computer codes (at no additional charge) when they have a car in for service. That's a great added bonus!

South Florida Porsche Mechanic

Based on my experience, an indy shop does not exist in Miami for a Porsche car. I will be happy to explain, but I promise, I have spent the time and money to know they are not qualified.

After my failed attempts to find a good indy guy, I went to the dealership here. Yes, their labor is more expensive but they were able to fix the problem I was having. They fixed it and for a lot less than the other guys when you look at total cost and not just per hour labor.

In Miami, the only place to take a Porsche, is the Collection in Coral Gables. If anyone is interested in the places not to go, I would be happy to provide the names, but I don't want to blast anyone in public. It may be that I was the only one to have problems with them.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that my check engine light is gone for good (I hope!)

Boston Area - EPE

Has anyone else in the Boston area been to Motorsport Garage Ltd in Allston MA?

They have always been very insightful when I take my '98 986 in for work. The car has always been solid after getting it back. They seem to have at least a few Porsche's and lots of Alfas on site being worked on whenever I go by.

Just looking for some comparisons -vs- EPE or others in MA that have been recommended.

*Update - EPE hands down. My car was there recently and I will be going back for future work. Very courteous staff, informative, and active with local PCA chapter.

James, you said you were new to the area, so how can you make such a blanket statement?
Just like in any region of the Country there are qualified and not-so-qualified Porsche Shops.
I happen to consider myself one of the former.
There are also a few more that I highly respect and a few that I would steer away from.
I'd be happy to consult (for free) with you if you have the desire.
I can also provide you with references.

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
