Hey there, I also just moved to Florida; well about a year ago. Now that I have the little beast all licensed and registered I've been driving it more and more. However, I need to find a decent shop to use in the Cocoa Beach/Melbourne Florida area. I know I need to change the CV boots and some other minor stuff with the auto windows. The drivers side window won't come down a crack when I open/close the door anymore. '00 Boxster, second owner with 40K original miles.

Thanks I am so glad I found this forum.
Thom.

I Need a New Indy

I called my local Indy just to see what they would charge me to replace the rear control arms on my 2001 2.7.
Once they told me it would be $300 per side for the parts and $400 for the labor. I hung up the phone and immediately came to the conclusion that they were trying to hose me.

(had the parts replaced over the past weekend for a total cost of $375)

Does anyone know a good alternative in the Stuart/Jupiter/West Palm Beach, FL area?

Thanks!!

I'm 95.675% sure that I'll need a local Porsche guru near Littleton, Colorado soon. Any suggestions?

Can't recommend them enough!

Geoff there knows his business.

They have all sorts of track cars outside and some being worked on from track wrecks or just being tuned up.

The mechanics there work smart, they saved me probably 2k from doing a more simple check. I'd say if I were somewhere else, they would have charged me 2k just because.

Honest work, and just a true Porsche enthusiast!

If you need work done, don't hesitate.

They have a Hunter machine too! He adjusted mine properly, and the car handles great. These cars are wonderful, but the last "hunter" adjustment wasn't done properly, and I totally feel the difference. That's what I get for using a non Porsche shop.

As long as there is a Porsche in my Northern VA driveway, I will be a customer of theirs.

Second that recommendation for Auto Sports System Group. They did a fair amount of work on my car ('03 986S) in the past year, both trouble areas and (deferred) maintenance. They were happy to work with me to keep the cost down. As an example, my window was acting flaky. They told me the cost of the new window motor (I want to say $400+) and suggested that at that cost I could just live with it. While I was mulling it I talked to DC Auto (a dismantler in NC) who quoted me about $150 for a used window motor. They agreed that at that price it was worth doing and taking the risk and installed it for a reasonable fee.

The shop is immaculate, they are clearly proud of it, and take the time to answer questions

Fort Wayne, IN

Oddly, I sent Facebook messages to two and an email to one inquiring about replacing the clutch and IMS bearing in my 2000 Boxster S, but none have replied so far. Does anyone have a recommendation in the Fort Wayne, IN area?

I've contacted SweetCars, Werners and the Porsche dealership.

Thanks,
Mark

I can recommend these guys. They did a clutch, RMS and turn signal switch for me recently. Good attention to detail. Reasonable pricing. Accurate estimate, no BS.

Detroit/Southeast Michigan

Looking for a good shop in Detroit/Southeast Michigan area.

Also, looking for a locksmith that will cut keys for less than the $40-$50 a few I have talked to charge. My brother had his key cut in NC for $25.

Hi,
Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my car. I have 97 Porsche Boxster, 6 speed with 61k miles. There is a loud rattling noise coming from the motor every time I drive it, when I push the clutch in the sound goes away. Can anyone give me some advice? I also recently replaced the throwout bearing because I thought that was the problem (clutch is good though)

Anna:
What did it turn out to be... that rattling noise your boxster was having back in 2015... I was guessing water pump.
BTW, your car looked great. Hope it's still on the road.
