I make similar adapter. They just make the install easier but aren't Bose specific. The dash speakers are 4 ohm but the door & rear speakers are 2 ohm. You an technically hook up speakers that are any ohm, they just wont sound correct or last and if you push them, they will blow. It's standard Ohm's law.
