CA Lemon Car - Good Buy?

Ran across this in AutoTrader. Looks like it's $5-6K less than MY05 base Boxster prices and this one has many nice options. Not ready to move up yet and grey is not one of my fav colors, but it caught my attn. Haven't called so I don't know how a CA car got to NH. What do the forum viewers think? Deal or No Deal?

I wonder if it comes with a title other then clean or salvage because it was a buyback. Even if it was a clean title,I would want a extended warranty on top of the factory one and then only then would I offer $25k out the door.

I might be worth it if the documentation of the defects and the repairs are available. I'd expect a lemon law car to cost less than that though.

Lemon law titles are usually "branded" that is, the title either has a big stamp on it or it is actually a different color and has the stamp (CA used to use Yellow for branded titles, not sure if they still do).

I would not buy a branded title car. The brand stays with the car forever, unless you illegally wash it through certain states.

For MOST buyers, a branded title is a deal breaker.

So, you may save a bit of money going in but you lose it going out.

Moreover, with a branded car, you never really know what the return was for. It may have been a minor issue or a major problem.

Most of these lemon law cars end up on EBAY, which ought to tell you something.

Proceed with caution.

When I clicked on the link and saw that California buyback I thought it was a local car.

There is a local 2005 with atlas gray that had an extended crank problem. Porsche bought the car back and now he has a 2006. But he had an S and the interior was black.
