Random Thoughts - HP by Year, Speeds, and Upgrades

I was bored at work last week so I decided to pull some data :
 YR - HP / TQ

 97 - 201 / 181

 00 - 217 / 192
 00S- 250 / 225

 03 - 228 / 192
 03S- 258 / 229

 05 - 240 / 199
 05S- 280 / 236

 07 - 245 / 201
 07S- 295 / 251

Imagine Auto's Stage 2 Kit claims 23-28 HP and 25-29 TQ gains for $2200.

( This would put me in the 2003 Non S Range )

 Times :

 1999

 0-60 6.7 sec
 0-100 15.6 sec
 1/4 mi - 14.7 sec
 Top 149 mph

 2003

 0-60 6.0 sec
 0-100 15.7 sec
 1/4 mi 14.6 sec
 Top 157 mph

So, it seems that $2200 would only buy me 0.7 sec 0-60 and 0.1 sec 1/4 mile ?

Looks like I would be better off saving up my $$$ for a supercharger or turbo !

Also, I was thinking about how much it sucks to own a sports car in Illinois :

 - The condition of the roads are terrible !

 - The weather sucks ! Only 6 months of top-down driving.

 - Most of the roads here are so straight and boring. The only fun to be had is expressway on-ramps / off-ramps. We don't have some of the great winding roads like in California or down South, hence why I think a lot of us want to mod our cars for better straight line performance...

Thank goodness for Autocross, otherwise I don't think I would ever be able to experience the full potential of this car.

Don't get me wrong, I love my car, nothing beats a nice top down drive in the summertime, I just wished I lived somewhere else ( I guess the winter is starting to get to me ).

 Just another incoherent ramble...

 Thanks,

 Nick

			Hi,
So move! What's stopping you? Or spend weekends in Wisconsin and go through the twisties there - great roads in Buffalo County.

I lived in Chgo. for 12 years (8 right downtown - 505 N. Mich.) and love that city. Spun a 308 GTS Quatrovalve on the Foster Ave. offramp of LSD once back in '84, that was some in-town twisty...
Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

			Nick,
Jim has a point. There's a scratch for every itch. Moving or spending weekends somewhere close but nicer are all good ideas.

I live in the NYC metro and work in Manhattan, so anything resembling a nice road is at least an hour of nightmare traffic away. For the last few years I've been spending my weekends in NW Connecticut (about 2 hrs north from the city) which is where I keep my Box. Honestly, I think I would go crazy if I didn't have this escape, and can't believe there are people who haven't left Manhattan for years!

As for the seasons, they don't bother me one bit. I like the change of temps, weather, colors, animals, birds, views, etc. and each season brings something beautiful to appreciate. Driving is great but so are other things, and there's time and place for everything.

 Z.

oh man....all i can say is....
 California, dude!

hey we DID have a real cold snap here for about the last 2 weeks here tho...

I had actual ICE on my car (the one that does not fit in the garage) at a 7am temp of 22 degrees@!!

My grass in my front yard was frozen and I had to run the defroster a good 10 minutes to get the ice off.

Life is hard here in Cali........
