Turning to Clear

Yes - another deamber post.

According to my research, best prices I can find to deamber my beast is as follows:

Tail lights: $165.00
Side Markers: $22.00
2003 Halogen Headlights: $950
Clear Triangles: $55
Total: $1192

Your help in getting me the above cheaper - PRICELESS!
(you know you saw that coming...!)

Thanks in advance -

C5150,

If you are willing to be patient, you might be able to find clear headlights cheaper. I've seen people turning in cars off of leases that added litronics and generally they are happy to sell them to you in exchange for cash and your lights. I got my clear litronics from Ruf in Dallas when one of the people that runs it were turning in a leased boxster in exchange for my ambers and $500.00. There was actually one other ad out there at the same time doing the same thing so I know they come up from time to time. Also, when you see someone on the message boards talking about turning in their Boxster, just shoot them a PM and inquire if they have litronics or clears and if they would be willling to deal with you. Run an ad at your local PCA and place a wanted ad on the forums and occasionally people will help that don't want to go through the hassle of selling them themselves. Just an idea. Good luck in your search.

I lucked out and got a used 2001 with the Litronics and the only things not clear are the side markers and tails. Cheap to change that stuff!

Same here, my 01S came with Litronics so all I had to do was the tails, side markers and 3rd brake light.

Navarro - good idea about posting at PCA - hadn't thought of that. I'll keep my eye out for the lease return deals you are referring to.

DJ - I saw that too - but would prefer the clear - not sure why the smoked are cheaper.... Any idea?

Fray / Marc - what can I say - I'm jealous of you!

Blink- Yea, eBay had the best price I could find on the halogens - but MUCH more then $480 (unless you are talking about price PER light). I'm surely keeping my eye open for these kind of deals. Let me know if you see anything I might have missed!

I got a pair of 996 clear halogens from ebay a few years ago for $350 - for the pair. I got lucky, very lucky. They had just been listed with a buy it now price so I did not get in a bidding war.

You can have ebay send you listings via email. It is called favorite searches.

Great stuff - thanks fellas...

Never been much of a flea-bayer. But as I hunt for a frugal deamber - now I'm hooked.

Appreciate the help.

So as for the tails - would you go LED or standard clears?

All the LEDs I've seen look cheap-ish.

Depending on the color of your ride, I'd just go with the clears. If you have a black, red, or white car, I think the solid red (550) lights would look money.

Arctic Silver baby! I know - so uncommon... I'm with you - feel pretty strongly about the clears. 550 lights would look great just as you said - but I think the clears on silver looks the hottest.

Silver on clears baby! Looks pretty good to me too.

Just make sure you get the silver bulbs too. Otherwise it'll bleed amber.

C5150,

There's a person selling the clear halogens right now over on ppbb.com (go to the classifieds) for $650.00 for the pair. No affiliation, just information. Take care,

Mike
