Low Beams Won't Work!! HELP

Just got my boxster and when I turn the headlights on (i've tried all positions) they only kinda glow. They definitely won't light up the street in front of me. I can turn the high beams on and they work terrific, but I actually have to hold back the lever for the to stay on. They won't stay on in any other position. Has anybody had something like this happen to them, or have any idea what is wrong?? Thanks in advance.

Is the glow being caused by the parking light bulbs or the low beams' filaments?

I have no clue. At the risk of sounding even more ridiculous...how would I find out?

Turn just the parking lights on and see if the headlights produce the glow you are seeing when you try to turn the headlights on.

BTW the ignition switch has to be on (engine running) in order for the headlights to work.

Ok...I figured it out. Thanks for the replies, but get this...
When I turn the car on, I have to turn it a click back for the headlights to come on. Is this normal, or just my car? Either way, it works now. lol

High beams won't stay on

So what was it that was keeping your high beams from coming on without holding the lever? Mine (2001 Boxster S) is doing the same thing now. Appreciate the feedback.

I was going to suggest that. The ignition switch wears and starts to stick in the start position and it wont go back to the retracted resting spot. WHen its all the way to the right, the lights and sometimes A/C wont work

My 996 did the same.
