Remote key light won't turn off, remote not working

Hey all, the light on my remote is stuck on for some reason. The key doesn't work any more as a remote, although it works fine in the door lock/ignition. Anyone know what would make it stay on? The buttons feel like they work ok, so I don't get the feeling either one is like stuck in the down position or anything.

I'd start with the battery - then go to a new key.

Removing and returning the battery seems to have reset whatever it was that was funky with the remote. Not sure if it's going to happen again, will report anything new. Just curious if it's ever happened to anyone else...

Yep, it happened to me. I did the same thing, took the battery out, left it out for a few minutes then put it back in. Works fine now. Still don't know what happened, just glad it is functional again.

I just had both my remotes replaced this week. I was experiencing the same problem on both my remotes. When I went to the authorized porsche dealer (in Woodland Hills, CA), it turned out to be a "faulty" remote, for both. Be advised that EACH remote cost $165 PLUS an additional $60 to have the remote programmed.

happened to me also

Hi,

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, covered here:
http://www.babblers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8501&highlight=remote

Here's the skinny:
* take out the battery
* insert it the WRONG way
* press any button on the remote
* put the battery back the right way

This resets the circuit and it works again.

Is this method proven?

Hey Chris, something similar happened to me a few weeks back but what happened to me was that my battery went dead and when I replaced the battery, the remote wouldn't work anymore. The light still goes on when you press the buttons but the difference is that when it still worked, the light would be constant as compared now where the light flashes when you press any button.

I'm having problems with mine too, but, to clarify- when it works as it should, the red led is continuous? Mine flashes.

BTW, the inverted battery trick made no difference

Yes, I noticed that when the remote was working, the LED light was continously on when pressed. I guess the inverted battery trick would just be a waste of time to try out then. Oh well. Thanks for the info though.
