Running a wire from back bumper to dash

My rear plastic window is close to opaque now. I would like to install a hard wired rear view camera. Has anyone had success running a wire from the rear bumper through the firewall into the car to the dash?
Cheers, Elliot 2002 straight Boxter.

I installed oil pressure gauges in 2 Boxsters, which meant running a wire from the engine compartment to the console. Also I had to wire a Boxster that originally had a 2 wire temperature sensor tor a 4 wire sensor. From the trunk to the engine compartment it seems to me I pulled the wire through the wiring harness grommet. From the engine compartment through the firewall I followed the shifter cables, then through the console to the area under the radio. Going through the firewall there is a place where there is a danger of the wire being crushed, so I wrapped in electrical tape to protect it.

This thread and the links contained in it have some information that should help.

I have a camera that clips onto the license plate, and I ran the wire up through one of the license plate lights then through some holes that are visible once you raise the spoiler. Then if you take out one of the tail lights, you can tuck the cord in through there. After that route it towards the left side of the car, pull the trunk mats away, and there is a bundle of wires that you can tuck it into.

I wasn’t sure if the spoiler would pinch it when it was moving up and down, but it’s been a while and it’s still good. So it appears that it doesn’t interfere.
