Ims separation

Hello all,
I was doing my timing chains and guides on my 2002 3.2L Boxster. Everything seemed to be going well till I went to install the oil pump/water manifold and my ims is not sitting centered in the bore.
I was going to see if any one has seen this before? Is this a symptom of ims separation? I was going to tap it with a brass drift and hammer to se if it would straitened out.
I will up load a picture shortly. My photo isn’t in the right format.
