Before putting mine (98 Boxster) in winter storage I really topped off the tank. As I drove to the storage place I got the same code as you did, but placed it in storage assuming I would deal with it in the Spring and I cleared the CEL code anyway. (The canister part for my car was the more expensive $900 one).

Fast forward to this Spring. I've done nothing to the car except drive it for about 800 more miles and the DEL never came back.

Did the canister dry out? Did the excess fuel evaporate during the 4 months of storage?....comments from others suggested neither is the case.....BUT as long as the CEL remains off I'm good to go.

I SUGGEST.....you clear the code and just drive the car....who knows it might not light up again but if it does there are several parts (sensors & valves) in addition to the canister that could be your problem....i'd check those too....maybe first IF your car uses the much more expensive cannister.
