Color question
My 40th birthday gift to myself will be a Boxster. My question is about colors. About 2-3 years ago I saw the most beautiful color Boxster on the highway I had ever seen. It was like the metallic copper color of the Infiniti FX45 SUV. I have not seen one since. I dont think it is the zanzibar red. Any help would be appreciated. I would love to find that color.

If you have a color you want, Porsche will make your car with that color... you'll just have to pay for the custom match ($$$$$$$$ )

Hmmm, if it was a silver car it could have been "Meridian Silver." That's a "warm" shade of silver which has a touch of rose tint in certain lighting. Quite nice.
Here is a very unusual picture supposedly of zanzibar. If you take a look at the other pictures on this site they are interesting for comparison.

OK I knew you would ask that. It is a picture I found fairly recently on the net. I will see if I can find the website I found it at. Because...I don't know the color either. I saved a copy of the picture because I had never seen that color before and thought it was pretty sharp. I thought maybe if I posted the picture someone else might know the name of the color. Or at worst send a copy to a Porsche dealership and maybe they could tell you. I will look for the website and if I find it I will post it for you.

The photo appears to be authentic
I thought at first maybe this photo was color shifted, so I went ahead and tried to match the green of the trees. As you can see below, the color still comes through and is totally unlike any current factory colors.

I should say, I don't think my picture is more "accurate." It is too saturated, too green.I just wanted to do push the opposite edge on the colors and see what happened.

If thats a factory color it must be very rare because I have never seen it in my life. It's definately unique.

I've never seen one of these in real life either. From what I can gather the color was available in at least '01, '02, and '03.
I guess it wasn’t popular because it’s gone now. However, this seems like a pretty good looking color.
As far as the "copper" tint, the only thing I would have to say there is that if it was a metallic paint then it might have been reflecting something. My car is the black metallic and I swear half the time it looks blue from reflecting the sky.

From time to time, colors in Europe are offered only over there and are not brought to US. It's totally up to PCNA what colors they want to import, so this may be a Euro car color, not imported by PCNA, and was available only in Europe. Note the Stuttgart license plate.

Sorry...I can't find site where I got the picture. Printing on bottom of photo doesn't help either. I only saved it beacuse I thought it was an unusual color and wanted to take a closer look at it.

Having looked at Carmon red in my brochure, it can look brown/copper in certain light.
Other than that the only other one I can think of is the early 1980's 911 colour Rosewood
