Hey everyone. When installaing new struts, I discovered that the rear ABS wiring harnesses were cracked and falling apart. In the following YouTube video from Breitwerks (
https://youtu.be/mcWrh5rzBPY?si=5wC9BpY2FxW7biML), they said that Porsche makes specific 986 wiring harnesses now instead of the more generic part starting with 996. So I ordered the following from Pelican - 986-612-954-01-OEM and 986-612-953-01-OEM.
My old cracked harness part numbers started with 996. But since Pelican said they both fit my vehicle, I went with the 986 numbered part. I installed them and discovered that the male/female conectors to the speed sensors were now slightly different. So I ordered the speed sensors that fit the harness connectors (996-606-406-00).
Well, I installed everything and now getting fault codes 4211 and 4216 (Speed Sensor right rear and left rear). Before I installed the new harnesses, I was also getting speed sensor wire codes.
I did not need to replace the any ABS parts on the front wheels and I was hoping that having different versions of the parts front and back would not make a difference. But since I now have a hunch that the rear parts were for cars with PSM. As I said in the header, my car did not come with PSM.
Since I am very much an amateur mechanic who obviously watches too much YouTube, can someone confirm that this is why I am getting the error codes? Do I need to swap the parts for the 996 version (996-612-952-00-OEM)? I keep telling myself that I enjoy working on old Porsches
