				Jack storage locaiton

			hello.
We recently purchased a 2000 Boxster and there is a small scissor type jack in the front storage compartment along with a toolkit. Do these cars have a permanent mounting location in that front storage compartment for the jack and tool kit?

Thank you.

There is a foam insert that fits behind the spare tire. It has niches for the jack and handle. The tool roll fits above the foam insert.

That is thought provoking.

I am wondering whether I should replace the spare tire since it is now a quarter-century old. I have a 20-year-old Mercedes C230. When the valve stem on the Mercedes' compact spare failed, I asked Discount Tire to replace the valve stem. The service writer told me that they couldn't work on a tire of that age due to liability issues. I eventually found a garage that would replace it, but I am aware that tires deteriorate with age. It might be best to consider my experience with Discount Tire "a word to the wise."

Had that same issue last January with my Boxster. Ended up ordering a new tire from Tire Rack:
Continental SContact SL T125/80R-17

The fit is a little more snug but it still takes the cover and clears the frunk trim panels.

I do check the spare tire pressure yearly... good thing. Two years ago I had the right front tire blow out on the freeway (in passing, the Boxster was very stable running on 3 tires). The spare went on and we continued on home without incident, using secondary roads.

Are you really lugging that thing around with you? There are RunFlat-Tires, marked with ZP (Zero Pressure) or EMT (Extended Mobility Tyre).
