New car project, oil all over and bad transmission advice

Hi, new here, although ive been to other more specific to the car forums. Im pretty good at DIY, and currently own Macan turbo.
Just got this 2001 boxster base relatively cheap with tip problem. Seller pretty much said it lost tranny oil, porsche said new transmission, and he didnt bother.
That said...
codes 81/82 or P1818 and P1823 pressure regulator 2 and 3 from piwis.
Oil was all over the bottom hard to tell where from, but mostly on the passenger side. I thought it was the righy driveshaft seal, took it out, it was stiff. No oil in differential at all..
Drained the tranny, oil came out thick and black, and only about 2 liters or so. Took the pan off, sludge at the bottom and three magnets covered with some fine metal dust.
so...you think i should get a used one and replace or continue searching for the leak, change the gasked and hope for the best?
