Why does Pelican Parts have two forums?

They were separate, competing forums at one time. Then around 2010(?) the owner of 986forum sold to Pelican, who chose to keep both entities going.

I just wish the admins were more active here. I've endlessly emailed both admins about the stupid threads hawking chinese code readers and both about the hacked acct selling women. Crickets from both. Ideally they're quiet about the trafficing thread while they get the FBI involved. At least that's my hope.

What I have pieced together over my years here is that it was founded by JT in 2002.

Rkwei and Brucelee took over administration of the forum around 2004.

There was a lawsuit in 2011 regarding copyright infringement. Defending the lawsuit was expensive and troublesome, revealing the liability they were exposed to by running the forum.

Wayne Dempsey (Founder of Pelican Parts) took ownership of the forum in 2011.

Pelican Parts along with the forum was sold to Bertram Capitol under Enthusiast Auto Holdings.

Cortec Group acquired EAH in early 2020 and I think that they are the current owner of the forum under the Pelican Parts Brand.

This forum, having been founded as an independent enthusiast entity was probably best left separate and in it's original form from the other Pelican Brand forums.

That's all my best guess anyway.

i cant stand that this forum has a different forum to every other one on the internet with newer posts at the top ..

Is there a setting so i can change this ?? im not saying having the new posts at the top is a bad idea, its just that everyone is the other way and i am used to it .

It may depend on how you view the forum - what browser or app.
In most cases at can be set in: User CP>Edit Options>Thread display mode.

Check this thread: Posts are backwards in threads on this forum
