No crank, No start

2000 Boxster S, 6 speed, 75K miles.

I drove it around the block to my garage in the back a few weeks ago and when I went to start it again it wouldn't crank. All the. dash lights appeared to be OK, the windows and lights work fine.

So, I started snooping around here for clues on what to look for. I found a lot of good information but
I still haven't identified or fixed the problem.

So far I've checked the battery voltage, it's 12.8 volts. I checked the clutch pedal switch both by bypassing it and checking it with an OHM meter and it appears to be OK. I checked all the fuses. I bypassed the starter relay with a jumper between pins 87 and 30. When I did this it would crank but not start when the ignition switch was turned to the start position whether or not the clutch was depressed. I also checked the starter relay itself and it appears to be OK.

I removed the circuit board from under the driver's seat to check for possible water damage and it appeared to be quite dry. Since I had it out I went ahead and gave it a bath in isopropyl alcohol, let it dry for a day or two and then put it back together.

Still no luck.

Any advice on where to look next would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the positive cable to the power distribution box connection? The other end of this cable connects at + side of the battery?

Just an idea, if the bypassed relay of the starter motor turns the engine, then it may be due to a defective relais or ignition switch?

Are you getting spark at the plugs?

Is your fuel pump... pumping? With the car off... turning the key into the first position... do you hear the pump start (it's in front of you... at the bottom of the tank... listen closely.

Is your fuel filter clogged? Remove the rear line... crank... look for fuel.

That's where I'd be starting. Report back... we'll get it solved.
