Overheating Tiptronic Transmission?

Hey guys, I love my boxster. I drive it as much as I can and now winter is here. I do not yet have winter tires for it, mostly due to a lack of space in my garage for another full set of wheels and tires, but I do have a question for if/when I do get a winter set.

My other car is a 2014 Ford Focus with a DCT. I live near some ski slopes and that is another fun activity I enjoy. Last year on the way back from the slopes my transmission fluid overheated a few times on the way back because I was stuck in stop-and-go traffic going up a hill for a couple hours.

My boxster is a tiptronic with 160k miles on the clock. Is an overheated trans something I neet to be mindful of if I do take it skiing? Are there any other concerns I should keep in mind when driving in winter?
