Clutch fork ball joint play?

I'm in the middle of replacing the clutch on my '02 S. I have found that the car already has the later style clutch fork that forgoes the plastic clip (the fork is 996 116 712 05). My question regards the hinging of the clutch fork at the ball joint. How much play should there be there? I can probably move the ball in and out of its socket by at least 1/8".
