We have used Zunsport units for years; about 1 min after opening the box, they are on the car, powder coated stainless steel, they hold up very well even after years of use.

Yes if you like to blow money my post is not for you. Zunsports are over $300 for the same thing, but wow they're soooo different. 🙄

What part of my post is not for you do you not understand? There are others that might be interested. I'm not the seller, I've see many posts about people buying mesh and making their own. Great you're cool, you have Zunsports, and 2 cars, so impressive.

Okay, so i removed the bumper as part of the radiator cleaning a few weeks ago and cut and glued my own grilles in the process. That's a lot more work, of course, but it's actually the cheapest (!) and not the worst solution. Removable grilles make little sense, imho, because you have to remove the bumper again for a proper radiator cleaning in any case, but only a fraction of debris gets into the radiators after installing the grilles, so no need to do it yearly.
I feel very uncomfortable with the Zunsport price.

Edit: The ones I have are aluminium, powder coated. That makes a difference in price of course. But much more easy to work with.

We get cars here in the shop with all sorts of "fixes" for the radiator inlets; some look half decent; others look like the car ran into a chicken enclosure and some of the fencing got stuck, which really isn't a good look on these cars. Others, with more expensive commercially available inserts, show signs of rust after only a year or so in the car. So, when customers ask me for a suggestion to protect the inlets from leaf and other debris that don't look tacky or quickly begin to rust, and that they can easily DIY install themselves, we recommend Zunnsport based upon both personal and professional observations. "Cool" never enters into the conversation.................

I spent about $20 and a couple hours with some gutter guard from Home Depot for my front intakes and honestly they look fine. Though the actual shaping of the gutter guard was super challenging.

Aren't you special. Why don't you make a separate post about how much you know about vents? I was giving information about something I thought members might be interested in. You're a pompous know it all and I couldn't give a **************** what you think. A Porsche snob at his finest.

What bothers me the most, Jan is that massive link you posted to the item.

Do you know that you can crop it off right after the item number?

No need for the rest of the web-clutter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235758452891

Even if it's an eBay Affiliate link, where you get paid for clicks, there's no need to make it so long and cluttered. Follow the instructions for a short link. https://partnerhelp.ebay.com/helpcenter/s/article/Link-Generator-Quick-Start-Guide?language=en_US

I really think this is a bit strict and frankly unnecessary. It is important that contributions are written objectively and purposefully. That's why I feel very comfortable here.

I posted something that I thought might be of interest to some members. Its not my product, I don't care if anyone buys it. Im not here seeking his approval. He could if just ignored it, or posted his comment and moved on. He obviously needs to feel superior here to overcome other shortcomings in his personal life.
Sorry if I intruded on your safe space. 🙄

I think one of the necessary questions we should be asking ourselves are can we bedazzle these vents with fake diamonds and or should we put words across these vents like 'Swag'

side note: were all here to share and ask questions. I doubt anyone genuinely has ill intent with giving their two cents. Dont forget we arent Ferrari, we wont have our cars repo'd for adding a cup holder to our interior.
I think the vents are honesty cool, i hardly ever care about performance when i just want to enjoy a beautiful 986 boxster. I might actually look into ordering the ones originally posted

Guys, post some pics, would love to see some homemade grills as $300 or even $99 seems like total overkill.

The radiator vents and engine vents are functioning as intended by Porsche. There is no need to cover them or alter them. Do not stuff meshes in them. Just stop it.

This picture shows my 997 (meanwhile mounted ~4 years ) but I used the same mesh and fixing on the 986 because there was actually enough left of the grille. It is powder coated aluminium and therefore easy to work with and bendable. It was easier on the 997 than on the Boxster, because I had to bent it more. I used a bodywork adhesive on the edges to fix it. When the 986 is back, I'll be happy to take some pictures of it too, but it's really not rocket science.

I'm not going to get into the discussion about whether it makes sense to retrofit the grille that porsche forgot there because it's too stupid for me. There is not a single disadvantage retrofitting them.
