Oil Drip!

Damn.....Discovered this yesterday.

Any ideas? Seems maybe coming from the passenger side rear case...Doesnt look like an easy place to change a gasket. IDK.

It looked pretty clean above this spot, didnt look like it was coming from above.

Check the oil filler tube that goes from the trunk to the top of the engine. They sometimes develop leaks in the accordion section that is right above where your oil is showing up.

Im assuming I need to open the engine cover for that as I couldnt see anything from below.
Didnt look like it was coming from above but sometimes these are hard to pinpoint.

Evo, I would suggest to remove the engine cover and wash the engine, first with a can of engine degreaser, rinse with "Low Pressure water", then spray 'simply green' (to remove the oily residue left by the engine degreaser and finally rinse again with low pressure water (to avoid getting water inside the connectors..

Then, you should be able to see the source of the oil leak, could be as simple (hopefully) as the o-rings seals of the spark plug tubes, as these are fairly easy to replace, but first you need to know where the oil is coming from.. Good luck!

Right, but I just wanted to get some ideas like the one above....Based on that area check this and check that first....

I couldnt see anything above but it was hard to see the back side of the case going up.


Question.....
If the filler tube is leaking, will the car always leak or just when you put oil in it?

I would assume it will "leak" all the time that the engine is running, oily air will be exiting through the leak. You will also have a massive vacuum leak, which is not good. My Boxster S had this problem when I bought it, there was oil all over the rear of the engine and the chassis in the immediate area.

Hmmmm....
When I was under there it didnt appear the oil was blowing around as if being expelled under pressure.
Ill have to get under there again after I take the hard top off and the engine cover.
It was kinda hard to see up behind what my pictures show from laying on my back and the engine cover closed. lol
The photos do show shiny bits up/behind the engine which tends to show the oil probably isnt blowing out of there.
It's a slow drip.
