So here is my first story with my current Boxster...
I took this car for 2 extended test drives, 40 mins and 30 mins.
Both drives I got the rpms up, drove around, sat at idle, everything. I would stop and check underneath for leaks...
Nothing.
Both drives Im checking for leaks.
Old Porsche with so little miles I know it's gonna leak, right? lol
Nothing.
Ok...I buy the car fully expecting to develop a seep or a slight leak here or there, right?
So I put about 150 miles on the car in a day and a half and I bring it in for an oil change at my local shop.
I get the car back home and it's leaving puddles of oil.....Puddles.
Cant drive it. Im feeling like a sucker. Im thinking how can it all of a sudden be leaking like this....
Ok, I jack the car up and get my fat, lazy ass under there for a look.
Oil everywhere.
Looks like it might be coming from the drain plug. IDK
I grab an allen wrench and check for tightness. Its tight.
Ok....Maybe the crush washer is worn out and it's leaking. Yeah, that must be it. Bad crush washer on the drain plug.
So I buy a new drain plug with crush washers, I buy new oil. I figure leave the filter alone as it's brand new.
Jack it up again and pull the drain plug, thinking, no, praying that when I replace the crush washer maybe the leak will stop.
Im trying not to get my hopes up as its really leaking...
So I pull the drain plug....
Hmmmmm......
Well, well, well......The crush washer is MISSING.
I check the oil pan...It must have stuck up there....nothing.
No washer on the plug....I didnt see it fall off. I guess it's "possible" it dropped off while I pulled the drain plug off.
So now my hopes are lifted.
I refill with oil, run it, drove it, revved it....
Not a drip.
Those bozos at the shop would have roached a very expensive engine if I hadn't noticed and had a hunch they messed up.
And you know they would have said it wasnt their fault.
