He had to break the ignition to steal the car.

			hey boggtown,

i think that push start button is sooo cool. so how does it work. do you need a key still. i was thinking about this the other day how ecactly it works. i think you commented in a post last week, and had mentioned something about doing the push start....and it got me thinking.

so how does it work?

looks great, not sure that you even need a backing plate. but i'm not sitting there in the car, you would know what's best or what it's missing.

			@ boggtown,

You really should post a D.I.Y. on how to do it. If you don't mind me asking why a pust start button, isn't the left hand ignition hard enough for people to figure out how to start the car?

im pretty sure its just a wow factor.
you still need the key.
so now he turns the key with left hand and then push the button with right hand 2 hand operation, must look funny

but it is kool nontheless, just kinda useless but still kool

post up some better pics man, ive been thinking about this myself, but dont know if its a waste of money or not. i think that the key on left side is kool enough

			Hi,

Starter Buttons are just the Flavor of the Month right now what with the S2000 and all, and if you like them, that's OK.

To me, the ignition system (read Switch) on the Boxster has trouble enough without adding another dimension to it. I'm not knocking boggtown at all, in fact, I think he did a good job of thinking it through and implementing it. It's just not something which would interest me. Good Luck with it though...

Maybe it would help make you feel better after wrestling with the ignition switch if you had a little red button labeled "Easy"? Lord knows I've been at the point of cursing and could've used such a button to calm me down...

its not really the flavour of the month, its been in car magazines for over 10 years. i remember when i had my old honda, i was going to put one in there. if anything its a honda flavour, not something new, not something people are just jumping on now.

i just took a spin in my cousins new 07 bmw, and he had a start button. so cool. its actually new for bmw, about time they caught up.

Ya, its just for looks, but the girls sure do like starting my car from their seat. All you do is tap into the yellow wire and the red/white wire from the ignition (look at ignition replacement instructions on here). There are like 3 red/white wires but I think they all work.

What happens if they tap it while you're driving?

Hi,

Earlier than that. My very 1st car was a 1939 Ford Coupe. It had a starter button on the floor. Switch on the ignition with the key, depress the clutch, and then press the starter button with your foot to engage the starter motor...

My first car was an English 2 seat sports car called a Sumbeam Alpine. Think it was a 1960. Cost $250. No key as the ignition switch was broken. Came with a screwdriver.

Went to the wrecking yard and got an ignition switch from an old Jag. The Jag had a dash starter button so I got that as well. Put both in the Sunbeam.
