plastic rear window polish
Newbe here with a probably newbe question. What are people finding to be the best stuff to use to polish up the rear plastic window?
Has anyone replaced the plastic window? I'm guessing a new one would have to be sew in? Does the top have to come off? Maybe I should get a new top with a glass window?
Cheers, Elliot

Novus 1,2,3. Kit. First you use the most abrasive then the middle and once you have removed the glaze you use the polish. Use inside and out. Inside you have to be a contortionist or really small. I only user the most abrasive once and then used to mildest (I forget how the numbers go, 3 bottles) every 6 months.
Yes there are a few shops that replace the plastic windows and a very few that can do it with the frame and top together.
Most people just replace the top and there are several companies that sell a glass version. Don't underestimate the amount of work for a new person to do the top replacement.

My biggest fear, doing it by hand, was applying too much pressure on the plastic window and completely destroying it. I'm now convinced the polisher is a safer option.

You can have the plastic rear window replaced
High there.
I am new to this but live in the UK.
I have had a Boxster for 3 years and the rear window split so needed replacing. I simply went on line and found a car upholster who fits them. (only 50 miles from our house)
It was £ 300 fitted and took him less than 3 hrs. (he had done many before). Yes he had to remove the lining from the mechanism, but fitted it back just fine and have had no problems since, and can now actually see out of the rear window.
Hope this helps.

I'll be trying this stuff but I'll use a (cheap) small diameter electric buffer. Harbor Freight is about 5 minutes away. I watched a video (don't ya just love utube)? This fellow masked off the top materiel with regular blue painters tape.

Here is a before and after, after about 5 minutes of buffing with a small cordless buffer.

It seamed to do a pretty good job of on the "Boxster Crease". Like I said, that was after only about 5 minutes worth of buffing. I'll spend more time on it tomorrow.
Cheers, Elliot

So far I have only done the left side for comparison. I'll be trying different products as well. I haven't even tried to do the inside yet.
