Convertible top/micro switch issues

1998 986

I’m trying to figure out if I need a new micro switch, or what exactly is going on here. I disconnected the convertible top transmission from the top itself, to diagnose this.

When I hold down the open top button, it spins like normal, and when the micro switch is manually pushed down, it spins a few extra rotations and then stops like normal.

However, when I hold the close top button, even when the micro switch is clicked, it continues to spin. Also, for both directions, if the micro switch is pressed, it starts only spinning in 1 direction, regardless if I click open or close.

Anyone have similar issues, or know how to fix this?

Thanks!

I always seem to have run into another issue. The clamshell Itself doesn’t click the micro switch with the roof is layed down, in the top open position. I believe there might be some kind of rubber peice or something I’m missing. What exactly clicks the rear micro switch?

I rolled up a wad of duct tape, and stuck it where the clamshell meets the microswitch. Works like normal now. Does anyone have the part number of whatever rubber thing sits there?
