2003 Boxster - Third Brake Light, Only Some Bulbs Out

Hello all,

I have a 2003 Boxster with a third brake light with some bulb that are on and one that is dead. I ordered new bulbs and swapped all the bulbs and the dead bulb came back to life and another position one refused to light up.

I swapped in all the original bulbs in a different order and one bulb stayed dead while the rest turned on. I swapped that dead bulb with a new bulb, but still didn't have it come back to life. Is this a resistance issue or something else? How would I go about fixing it instead of purchasing a new third brake light?

That's the kind of problem that makes you tear you hair out. I had a similar issue on one of my other cars. I broke out my circuit tester, which found a short where a wire connected to the bulb socket. A tester will tell the tale. Good luck!
