Help please

I noticed that one of my side exhaust/intake grilles would come out a bit after I drove my car. I would have to push it back in everytime. What can I do to make it not come out? Thanks for all the help.

There is a screw in the top of it you can't see unless you get down low and look up. If that screw is missing, replace it.

If it's the driver's side, it's probably due to a previous owner's attempts to desnorkel the intake and get some extra sound out of the car, and he broke off the retaining tabs that keep it in place.

If those tabs are missing, buying another and having it painted to match, or buying one in your paint color from a salvage yard is the correct way to fix the problem.

The not-so-correct way to fix the problem is to remove it, figure out where to put some heavy duty adhesive tape that won't be seen, and apply it and put the vent back on.

Of course, if you want to start modding your car, this is a great excuse to put some scoop style intakes on the car like the ones I found on FVD. Very cool indeed.

Thanks so much for the info! It's the passenger side which is loose so I will have a look and see if the screw is missing. By the way, what kind of screw is it and where can I get it? Thanks again!

Someone put a regular old steel screw in mine, but I am sure Porsche sells the right thing from the parts counter and that's what you should buy, just to keep it right. It won't cost you much. Maybe a buck.

What are these scoop style intakes you speak of?

I can't get FVD's US web site to load properly, but if you go to it (www.fvd-usa.com), click on online shop, put in the info at the top about your car, then hit "body" you will see these aftermarket scoops they have for the side intakes that are shaped in such a way as to blow more air into both sides of the engine compartment. Maybe someone on the list reading this can post a pic... I can't seem to find any right now, but I think they look pretty cool myself.
