Porsche PCCM PLUS 996/986

Not sure how many got the PCCM here in this forum, but I am asking anyway:

Has anyone ever tried to feed a backup camera signal via an aux-to-USB or aux-to-CINCH input adaptor into the PCCM PLUS HU (996/986)?

Are the two main knobs still illuminated, when switched to amber instead of white?

An unanswered question I found here in the forum about the PCCM PLUS:
How readable is the display in bright sunlight (top down)?
I guess, as good as any other HU out there. = BARELY.
But the same goes for high quality iphone/ipad displays.

Apple wireless carplay ready? Not out of the box, but with an adaptor, YES.

Back-up sensors support? Nope. SADLY not.

I don't think that will work. AFAIK there is no signal input that the car is in reverse. Also, i couldn't find anything in the dev settings. But maybe i'm wrong. The documentation for the PCCM+ is kind of weak. Seems they do little updates and bug fixes permanently.

Yes, that is true, but if the car has a backup system from the factory, it can still be used.

Well, the "reverse"-signal could be induced e.g. by the reverse light or by a switch (front/rear camera setup possible). Question is, if a video signal will be accepted/processed by the PCCM+ head unit.

I helped a friend put one in last yr, but didn't run across any of your issues.

As noted in my thread, not a lot of documentation. Prob b/c they want you to have Porsche do the install and it's so universal it would be impossible to document all the various options and models.
