unable to downshift from 4th gear to 3rd gear

Greetings All,
My 1997 Boxster with a 5-speed manual transmission is experiencing a problem with shifting. Specifically, I am unable to downshift from 4th gear to 3rd gear, while all other gears are functioning properly. This issue persists whether I am driving or stationary. I can successfully shift from 2nd to 3rd gear, and 3ed to 4th. but the problem arises specifically when attempting to downshift from 4th gear to 3ed.

Is it possible that resolving the issue is as straightforward as readjusting the cable couplers? I plan to give that a try today and will inform you of the outcomes
