Cooling Fans.

986S (2000) decided to launch all of its coolant onto the workshop floor during the emissions test when it last went for an MOT. Noticed then that the cooling fans weren’t kicking in. Was about to swap the thermostat for a low temperature one anyway so did that regardless.

Today I tested the fans/ballast resistors by removing the relays in turn and jumping the connections. We didn’t get any fan on left side/slow, but left side/high speed, right side/slow and right side/high speed all worked when jumped.

I can’t feel any click from the slow relays when AC toggled on/off, but the AC needs regassing and I suspect there a ruptured connection or pipe somewhere but it’s not high on the list of priorities. Not sure if non-working AC will have any impact?

Probably going the change the ballast resistors on both fans anyway as it’s an easy job. I’d appreciate any suggestions or ideas you may have. I have tried the search tool, but happy to be pointed towards any appropriate thread I didn’t find!
